It is important as you nurture an idea into a viable product that you assign a proper perspective your input sources. Neither should necessarily trump one or the other though how you weight them may vary occasionally.
It is fine to regularly maintain something. But sometimes we need to see if it is real maintenance we’re doing, or nursing something along, well after it’s time for a more significant action to be taken. Leadership is facing cold, hard, brutal reality, recognizing a need for change and acting on it.
For many an IT organization, its increasingly important to manage expectations, avoiding the trap of agreeing to, ‘do more with less,’ faster.
