It does not matter whether you are a supporter of President Obama, or not. Really doesn’t. His failure to fully, properly resolve the ongoing ‘obama birth certificate’ issue demonstrates a failure to lead.
Pretty much any US citizen* can produce their birth certificate, or reasonable facsimile, on demand. You can, can’t you? I know I can. It’s in my safe and I can procure it for you in a few minutes. When I applied for my first passport, I had to produce it. When I enlisted, I had to produce it. Of course, now, my passport tends to serve as a more-effective stand-in, but there are still times when I have to produce it.
Now, for sake of discussion, let’s say I decide to run for President of the United States. And, my U.S. Citizenship is challenged. You know what? I would immediately be able to produce it, provide a scanned copy, as well as let a select few forensic folks verify it’s authenticity. Oh, and we can get a fresh, certified copy, from the State of Michigan if necessary.
Done. Over. Finished. In like :05 minutes.
It drives me nuts to see the Nation continue to waste its time on this matter. Mr. President, you should be ashamed with yourself for letting this debacle continue. Produce the document, let some nationally-credible folks (heck, let Limbaugh look at it) see it, and verify it’s real. And, while you’re at it, ask the State of Hawaii to open up and help resolve the issue.
The failure to lead lay in the unwillingness to produce the document. This is a choice. Any reasonable leader would immediately resolve this problem. A true leader how distractions can have tremendous negative impacts…and they can grow over time if not addressed.
That is where we are today. Over three years later, the issue continues to fester. Fester to the point it is not unreasonable to wonder, "…what’s going on here? Is he a citizen, or not?" We even have folks like the Maricopa County Sheriff saying what has been provided is inconsistent. My word: fraudulent.
The only people who cannot effectively respond to this issue appear to be illegal aliens. And, apparently, the President of the United States of America.
I’m proud to be an American. And happier yet to demonstrate I am an American. Time to properly fix this issue Mr. President. Or, fess up.
